Christ Our Shepherd will offer Love Feasts in Moravian Tradition on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec.12, at 6 p.m. A tradition of the Moravian Church since 1727, Love Feasts include serving specially-baked buns and coffee or apple juice to all worshipers. Adults will be given a beeswax candle dressed in a red paper “ruff.” Children will receive a small flashlight instead of a candle.

The theme for this year’s Love Feasts is “Before the Marvel of This Night.” The services include traditional and Moravian carols sung by everyone.

Featured also will be anthems by Sanctuary Choir, Joyful Noise Ringers, Christ Our Shepherd Brass, Flute Choir, and da Chiesa (strings). Baritone Karl Dietmeyer will be the soloist for Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” for choir and orchestra; James C. Hagberg will conduct. Dietmeyer will also conduct the Christ Our Shepherd Brass, Flute Choir, Moravian Church Band, and Love Feast Consort. David Beecher will direct the handbells and choir, and will be the organist.

A “Musical Offering” by the instrumental ensembles and handbell soloist Sarah Juhasz will begin 30 minutes before each Love Feast.

The public is invited, and there is no admission charge. The church is at the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City.
