This Christmas season marks the third year that a tree honoring veterans of All Wars will be placed by the Frankie Lyle Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy in downtown Fayetteville.

Honoring veterans is an ongoing project of the general organization and that of the chapter.  The proceeds from this project will enable the chapter to continue supporting veteran causes at home and abroad as well as other patriotic activities.

Personalized ornaments honoring a veteran may be purchased for $10 each.  Every veteran will be prayed for as his/her name is handwritten on the ornament.

The tree, donated again this year by the Fayette County Civitan Club, will be decorated with red, white and blue ornaments and placed in front of the American Legion Post No.105 just south of the old courthouse square in downtown Fayetteville.  It will be beautifully decorated and a nice compliment to the other decorations around the city.

Make checks payable to Frankie Lyle 2074 and mail to Linda Patterson, 210 Medford Drive, Fayetteville, 30215-1920 or Linda Robinson, 250 Newhaven Drive, Fayetteville, 30215-8608.  Include veterans name, military branch and war or dates served. Deadline for ordering is Dec. 15.  Please indicate if you wish your ornament returned after Christmas.

We hope you will join others in the community as we salute our men and women in uniform in something as simple as an ornament on a Christmas tree.
