‘The Fred’ is once again planning a spooktacular Halloween party and everyone is invited.

The Frederick Brown Amphitheater will host the “Not so Frightful” Storytelling and Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 2-6 p.m. with fun for children of all ages. Kids and their families are invited to attend the second annual free storytelling event and take part in lots of fun activities including safe trick or treating, costume contest, storytelling and more. This year the party is even bigger as the Fred joins with two other events happening that day in the amphitheater complex, the Line Creek Civitan’s Great Chili Challenge and “Howl-O-Ween” presented by the Peachtree City Dog Park Association.

The Halloween party will feature an afternoon full of entertainment at ‘The Fred’ as well known author and song-writer Eric Litwin returns to headline the event. Widely recognized for his work in creating Pete the Cat children’s books, Eric will entertain both children and parents through storytelling and music. Other participants on-stage include magician Ken Scott, a performance of Jack & the Beanstalk by All Hands Puppets, and a visit from My Reptile Guys and their cold-blooded friends.

Families are invited to participate in the days festivities in several ways. There will be a costume contest with prizes awarded to winning costumes in two categories. The first category is under 6 years of age and the second is 7 – 12 years. Kids and adults alike are invited to decorate or carve your best pumpkin design and enter into our second annual jack-o-lantern carving contest at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. The contest is in conjunction with the “Not so Frightful” Storytelling and Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 23 beginning at 2 p.m. Bewitching prizes will be awarded to the winners of the creepiest, funniest and most creative designs in the kids category (up to 12 years of age) and adults (13 years and older).

Vendors will be set up throughout the amphitheater and children are encouraged to trick or treat at each table throughout the day. Vendor space is still available for just $25.  For further details about the jack-o-lantern contest, vendor space or storytelling event, visit www.amphitheater.org or contact Sarah Davenport at The Fred by e-mail at sdavenport@amphitheater.org, or call the office at 770-631-0630.

The Line Creek Civitan Club and the Georgia District Civitan Foundation will host the Civitan Great Chili Challenge at Shakerag Knoll from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

“This will be a great day of family fun, fellowship,” said Doug Ivey, president of the Line Creek Civitan Club. The event is a chili culinary extravaganza featuring competition in several different categories and will include contestants from both professional and novice community businesses, civic clubs and organizations, restaurants, and various other groups and individual participants. Visitors to the event vote for their favorites, while a handful of judges also vote on the best chili and booths.

Howl-O-Ween will take place at the Peachtree City Dog Park from 1-4 p.m. It is a fundraiser for the dog park and will feature doggie costume contests, games, prizes and more. Admission is $2 per family for members and $4 per family for non-members. Judging in the costume contest will begin at 2 p.m.
