The Fayette County Historical Society will meet this Sunday, Sept. 26th, at Starr’s Mill at 3 p.m.
Each September the group meets on the grounds here, the Mill will be open for you, just be sure to bring a lawn chair.
The original mill dates back to the early 1820’s and the present mill is the third one on the site.
It was “redone” on the first floor for the movie “Sweet Home Alabama.”
Bobby Kerlin, Mr. Starr’s Mill himself, will tell the story of the mill and the surrounding community. He was born and raised here and still resides just up the road.
Refreshments will be served, so don’t forget to bring that lawn chair, sit and relax and listen to Whitewater Creek rush over the damn.
You don’t have to be a member to enjoy the festivities. It will probably be another year before the Mill is open again.
