Mrs. Mary Ruth Jones Horton, 94, of Brooks

Mrs. Mary Ruth Jones Horton, 94, of Brooks, passed away on August 2, 2010.

Mrs. Horton is preceded in death by her husband, A.J. “Pete” Horton; her parents, Roy and Vivian Jones; three brothers, three sisters and one great-grandson.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Carden of Brooks; son, Gene Horton and his wife Shirley of Fayetteville; brother, Bob Jones of Fayetteville ; eight grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Whitewater Baptist Church, in Brooks, with Rev. Dennis Watson and Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Mrs. Horton will lie in state from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the building fund at Whitewater Baptist Church , 632 Highway 85 Connector, Brooks, GA 30205
