A proposed commercial rezoning request was approved last week by the Coweta County Commission. The proposal will create a 12,000 square-foot retail and office center on 2.17 acres on Ruth Drive near Thomas Crossroads.

County Director of Planning Robert Tolleson said applicant Allen & Tyler, LLC is proposing that the O-I (Office Institutional) zoned property be rezoned to C-6 (Commercial Minor Shopping District).

The conceptual site plan, said Tolleson, call for a 6,000 square-foot retail center and two 3,000 square-foot retail buildings for office and retail space. The development would include 60 parking spaces.

The C-6 designation would allow for multi-tenant retail that is not available in a lesser commercial district, Tolleson said.

As proposed, the development would generate 332 vehicle trips on weekdays, 266 on Saturdays and 12 on Sundays.

The county Planning & Zoning Department recommended approval of the request with 14 conditions.
