The community is invited to a “Let Freedom Ring” celebration at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Sunday, July 4, at 1:30 p.m., in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the nation’s 234th birthday.

Several Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops will present the flag to kick off the program. Congressional Resolution Number 25, which established the nationwide ringing of bells at precisely 2 p.m. eastern daylight time, will be read aloud, followed by a reading of The Declaration of Independence.

The PTCUMC Handbell Choir will perform two selections of patriotic music.

The program will conclude at 2 p.m. with the ringing of the church’s belfry bell once for each of the 13 original colonies, with one person representing each state having the honor of ringing the bell.

The celebration will be held in the PTCUMC Family Ministry Center at 400 Windgate Rd.. For further information contact PTCUMC, 770-487-6499, or visit the church website, www.ptcumc.org.
