The Half Shell Oyster Bar and Hot Dog Shop is owned by Natalie and Blaine Pitchford of Newnan, Ga. Oyster bar & hot dog style restaurants are common where they grew up (Dothan, Ala. – The Wiregrass). They couldn’t find that combination in Midwest Georgia, so they decided to bring some Wiregrass to the area. They started in downtown Newnan in April 2007. In May 2008, they opened a second location on Hwy 34 in Newnan. In march of this year, they opened their third location in Fayetteville.

At the Half Shell you can enjoy Fresh Apalachicola Oysters, Awesome Hot Dogs, Steamed Shrimp and Crawfish, Great Smoked BBQ and Homemade Chicken Salad. The Half Shell’s homemade Oyster Stew, Louisiana Style Gumbo and Red Beans and Rice are also crowd pleasers.

The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, May 22. Customers will be able to enjoy half price oysters and beer all day with live music from 5-9 p.m.
