Organization for the 11th Annual Southern Crescent Alzheimer’s Memory Walk got off to a flying start by the initial meeting of the County Chairs at Frank’s Old Mill Restaurant in Fayetteville.  The 2009 Walk in Peachtree City was the largest yet in terms of both the number of participants and the amount of money raised…$230,000. This year two additional counties are officially joining in the efforts to raise funds to combat this dreaded disease causing dementia for its victims.  Meriwether and Troup will join Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Fulton, Henry and Spalding Counties on Atlanta’s south side to sponsor the Walk in Peachtree City on Oct. 2.

The County Chairs are charged with organizing teams of volunteers to raise funds in their respective counties, plus seek sponsors for the event.  Pictured from the left are Stephania Ward – Henry County, Carol Dickerson – Clayton County, Darlene Psomas – Owner of Frank’s Restaurant, Dyan Matthews – Fulton County, Beth Lever – Coweta County, Fred Brown – Walk Organizer, Cynthia Carey – Clayton County, and Iola Snow – Walk Organizer.  Unable to attend were Elaine Gaillard – Fayette County, Vivian Smith – Meriwether County, Jo Ellis – Spalding County and Beth Dow – Troup County.
