A posting on Craigslist helped Peachtree City police nab a Williamson man suspected of stealing a car from the Braelinn Village shopping center Dec. 8, police said.
Clayton Phillip Ward, 22, was arrested Friday after he met with undercover detectives in an attempt to sell the vehicle’s …
wheels and tires, police said.
The wheels belonged to a 1992 Honda Prelude that was stolen Dec. 8 and recovered Friday at Ward’s home with assistance from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
The wheels and tires were put for sale on Craigslist Thursday and detectives posing as buyers met with Ward Friday in the parking lot of the Wilshire Pavilion shopping center on Ga. Highway 74 south, police said.
Ward, who had the wheels and tires with him at the time, was placed under arrest at the scene, police said.
Ward is charged with three felonies: motor vehicle theft, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of tools for the commission of a crime, police said.
