Cornerstone United Methodist Church announced recently that Bobby Totten is the new director of student ministries.
He is a devoted husband of 13 years (Fonda) and father of three: Gage (18), Dayton (16), and Breigh (11). They live in Newnan.
Totten grew up in Peachtree City attending McIntosh High School and graduated from The Heritage School (1989). He received a communication arts degree from Georgia Southern University (1995).
Before entering the ministry, he worked for eight and half years in motorsports marketing and public relations doing stints with Atlanta Motor Speedway, TEAM Sabco and Hooters Racing. After marrying Fonda in 2003, he left his motorsports career for the family business in marketing and promotions for Classic Signature Dressings.
He sat on the Peachtree City Little League board and coached several All-Star teams and coached varsity baseball at the Heritage School for the past 12 years. He is a substitute teacher at The Heritage School for the last 12 years and began seven years ago as the softball coach.
He is entering his 11th year of youth ministry in the United Methodist Church. His ministry service extends nearly seven years at Cokes Chapel UMC and the four years prior to that at Lighthouse UMC. As his ministry has grown he has branched into the role of team chaplain for several sports teams at the Heritage School.
With Bobby’s wide diversity in marketing, athletics and student ministry, his focus has always been to teach these youth, students and even adults the meaning of great fellowship with each other and a clear understanding of what means to “preach the gospel everyday and use words only when necessary,” as said by St. Francis of Assisi.
