An April 4 accident at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville resulted in the death of a 44-year-old male construction worker in a warehouse area on the studio property, according to Pinewood President Frank Patterson.
The deceased man was identified as 44-year-old Javier Pedraza-Perez, of Roswell, who worked for subcontracting firm All Steel Construction of Jefferson, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.
The man worked for a contractor doing work unrelated to any current film or other productions ongoing at the studios, Patterson said.
The Pinewood executive said studio staff are providing assistance to the response team and that their thoughts and prayers go out to the man’s family and friends.
Babb said deputies were dispatched to the studio at approximately 11 a.m. where an accident had occurred on the studio property.
Babb said the fatality resulted from a construction accident in a construction area of the 288-acre studio property on Veterans Parkway.
Fayette County Fire Department spokesman Mike Singleton said the worker was fatally injured in a fall.
Peachtree City-based Randolph Williamson Commercial Real Estate and Construction issued the following statement on Tuesday: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of a subcontractor who was fatally injured in an accident today on a construction site at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. As the project’s general contractor, we promptly informed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. We hope to learn more in the coming days about what caused this tragedy, as safety is our top concern at this and all of our project sites.”
