The Fayette County Board of Realtors met last month to announce the

winner of its top individual award for the year and reveal updated information

about its biggest fundraiser.

Stephen Walker of Prudential Georgia Realty was named the 2004 Realtor

of the Year. The award was presented June 10 at the board's general

membership meeting at the Palmer Course at Starr's Mill.

The prestigious award is presented annually to the Realtor member representing "the

best of us," according to a statement from the board.

"Walker has been an actively involved and contributing member of

the Board since 2001," the statement read. "His contributions

and qualifications were reviewed and voted on by the Awards Committee

and all nominees were evaluated on Realtor Spirit, Civic Activity, Business

Accomplishments, Board Activity, as well as State and National Association

Activity. The Realtor with the highest overall percentage is named Realtor

of the Year."

The award was presented by Sue Monson, vice president of member services,

and Paul Schwinne, who won the award in 2003.

"Stephen exemplifies the highest principles in his daily tasks

and gets results from having strong faith in everything he sets out to

achieve," said Schwinne. "He upholds the Realtors Code of Ethics

not only in his business practice, but in his walk through life."

Also nominated for the award were Marie Craft of RE/MAX Around Atlanta All

Stars, Cindy Davidson of Jan Trammell Real Estate, Ed McGowan of ERA

Jo-Par Realty, Cheri Scranage of Tri-City Realty Services and Janeece

Swainey of The Home Source Realtors.

"It's a humbling experience to stand before you all," said

Walker.

"Stephen is looked upon as a role model within our field of expertise

and does indeed represent the 'best of us," said Schwinne.

In celebration of Noel November's 10th anniversary, a new logo

and specially commissioned Christopher Radko ornament were "unwrapped" at

the Board's June meeting.

With the Noel November committee on hand and dressed in "Christmas

red," chairman Jim Bishop announced the two new initiatives to help

bring this year's Noel November to new heights.

The handmade "Noel St. Nick" ornament was designed by Christopher

Radko. Taking 7-8 days to make, they will be made in Poland.

Ornaments will sell for $42 each, with $10 going to Noel November. To

reserve an ornament, call or come by the Fayette County Board of Realtors

office. Ornaments are due by Sept. 1 and will also be available at Beard & Company

at The Avenue in Peachtree City.

The new logo was designed by committee member Debbie Pitts and defines

Noel November as "a celebration of trees and 10 years of giving
