Fayetteville resident Helen Denton was joined by Councilman Larry Dell (L) and Mayor Ken Steele (R) at the Fayetteville City Council meeting July 21. Denton came with a number of items such as dog tags, photos and a bracelet with her name and serial number, all memorabilia from her time serving with Gen. Dwight Eisenhower. As part of Eisenhower’s staff stationed in England, Denton typed the orders for Operation Overlord, the D-Day invasion of France. The memorabilia will be on display at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum. “I hope they will be a calling card for other people to help make this museum one of the best in the state,” Denton said.
