Fayetteville Main Street is excited to announce the opening of a new local produce stand on the downtown square. The produce stand is now located in the Southern Crescent Mortgage parking lot on the northwest corner of the square. It will mainly offer fresh produce, but will occasionally also have locally made jams, kettle corn, plants and other complimentary items.

In order to keep a variety of products available, different growers and vendors will rotate throughout the week. The produce stand is initially open Monday-Friday in the afternoons to capture the people driving home from work, but if the demand will support it, the plan is to have someone selling there every day.

Fayetteville Main Street set this up as a way to give local growers an opportunity to sell on a more frequent and regular basis. Many of the produce vendors at Market Day have expressed a need to be able to sell more than just once a month, and this will afford them that opportunity. Main Street staff hopes it will also have local economic and social benefits.

“We really didn’t have a quick and easy place for residents to stop and grab something fresh, and so we hope this will serve that need in the community and also provide one more reason to notice and enjoy our historic downtown,” elaborated Main Street Director, Brian Wismer. “Shoppers will be able to stop by on their way home from work and get some fresh produce to cook that night for dinner.”

Any produce growers wishing to sell are encouraged to call 770-719-4173 to apply for a scheduled time and date.
