McIntosh, Starr’s Mill and Sandy Creek high schools continue math champ traditions

The tradition of a championship win continues for three high schools at the Griffin RESA Regional High School Math Contest.

For the third consecutive year, Sandy Creek High took first place in Division I (smaller schools), Starr’s Mill High took first place in Division II (medium schools), and McIntosh High took first place in Division III (larger schools).

Whitewater High placed second in Division II.

In the individual winners overall category, Fayette students secured the top two placements with Caroline Zhang of McIntosh High taking first place, and Brock Spence of Starr’s Mill High in second place.

Approximately 150 students participated in the middle and high school competitions. The regional event included students from the school systems of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
