Walter Lonnie Ivie, 80, of Brooks, passed away May 10, 2011.

He was the son of the late Walter Burrell and Nellie Ergle Ivie of Hapeville, Georgia. After serving in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict, he was employed with Delta Airlines for 31 years. He retired in 1987 and enjoyed traveling, wood carving and spending time with family. He was a member of Brooks Baptist Church.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Norene Hutchins Ivie, two daughters, LaVanda and Gene Gibbs, Fayetteville, Denise and Jim Price, Fairburn, son, Michael and Teena Ivie, Brooks; sister, Carolyn and Doyle Chastain, Jackson; brother, Gordon and Brenda Byrd, Fayetteville; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Rev. Chuck Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2011 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
