April 13-14 – “The Cry of the Whole Congregation” will be presented on Sat. at 6 p.m., Sun. at 8:30, 10:50, and 11 a.m. The drama details the events of Jesus’ last week, using readers, musicians, and a dancer. After a noisy Palm Sunday procession, the narrator, “Pilate,” “Peter,” and “Judas” tell the story. The congregation members are active participants.
Christ Our Shepherd will host two services on Maundy Thursday, April 18, at 12:15 noon and 7 p.m. First Presbyterian Church will share in worship, with Pastor Morgan Morse Hay joining Pastors Fritz Wiese and Miriam Beecher and musicians from both churches in leading the services. FPC’s Director of Christian Education, the Rev. Katelyn Nutter Dowling. Worshipers will remember and share in Jesus’ Last Supper.
Christ Our Shepherd will participate in the community Good Friday Service at First Baptist Church at noon on April 19. That evening at 8 p.m. the church will offer a Tenebrae, Service of Shadows. Worship will include scriptures, the Solemn Reproaches from the Cross, and music by John Ferguson, Hal Hopson, Richard Proulx, F. Melius Christiansen, and Theodore Dubois.
The unique experience of Easter Vigil will be on April 20, 6-7 p.m. The service progresses from the solemn contemplation of Holy Week to the joy of Easter.
Christ Our Shepherd will offer three services Easter morning. Festival worship in the sanctuary at 8:30 and 11 a.m. features music by Sanctuary Choir, Joyful Noise Ringers, and the COS Winds. Contemporary Worship in Fellowship Hall is at 10:50 a.m. Pastor Fritz Wiese will preach, and Pastor Miriam Beecher will celebrate Holy Communion.
