William “Bill” Edward Stimler, age 58, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, passed away September 15, 2018.
Bill was born on November 22, 1959 in Akron, Ohio. He grew up in Stow, Ohio with his parents, William G. and Alfreda Stimler, his brother and three sisters. He graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School in 1978 and attended The University of Akron, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Electrical Engineering. He also earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. Bill enjoyed a very successful career as an Electrical Engineer in the automotive industry.
While attending The University of Akron Bill met his future bride, Laurel Anderson, and they were married in 1983. They had two sons, Gregory and Geoffrey, and the family followed Bill’s career path, living in Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, and most recently in Georgia, where he worked at Panasonic in Peachtree City with an exemplary group of coworkers.
Bill was a wonderful husband, a devoted father and excellent provider for his family. He enjoyed his sons and loved his family and friends dearly. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with a group of his closest friends from high school. Bill was a faithful Catholic and member of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, Georgia.
Predeceased by his parents, William and Alfreda, Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Laurel; sons Gregory W. Stimler of Sharpsburg and Geoffrey L. Stimler of Columbia, South Carolina (fiancé , MacKenzie Rutherford); sisters Nancy (Bob) McManus of Hudson, Ohio, Teresa (Denny) Spohn of Daniel Island, South Carolina, and Karen (Gary) Cook of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; brother Jeff (Mary) of Mason, Ohio; and many extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Pete Colletti on Saturday, October 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment of ashes will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, and Archbishop Hoban High School, 1 Holy Cross Blvd., Akron, OH 44306.
