Horace Carr Byne Jr., 82, passed away on January 6, 2018.
He was born in a small community called Zetella in rural Spalding County on April 15, 1935 to Gladys and Horace Carr Byne Sr. He was a member of Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, the Golden Harps and the Baptist Builders. He retired from Delta Airlines in 1993 after 27+ years of service. He was also employed by Ford Motor Company prior to Delta.
Horace is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Byne; parents, Horace Sr. and Gladys Byne; brother, Harmon Byne and sister, Joan Byne.
He is survived by his sons, Darrell Byne of McCaysville, Joel Byne (Joy) of McDonough and Marcus Byne (Patty) of Fayetteville; brother, William Byne of the Bronx, N.Y. and sisters, Ann Mercer (Rex) of Lake Wales, Fla. and Alice Chapman of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, with Pastors Dennis Watson and Ken Helms officiating. He will lie in state at the church at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
