John B. Stiles, 86, of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Charlie Avery and Inez Jenkins Stiles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Stiles and Ray Stiles, and his sister, Ruby Aldridge.
Mr. Stiles was a graduate of Robbinsville High School and played football for the Robbinsville, Blue Devils from 1946 to 1950. After High School, he joined the US Air Force and played football while in the service. He went on to work for Delta Airlines, retiring in 1988, with 28 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Walker Stiles, of the home; his son, John B. Stiles, Jr., and his wife, Gladys, both of Stockbridge, Ga., and his sister, Hester Green.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverend Daniel Stewart officiated. Burial followed at Old Mother Cemetery. The family received friends from 12 until 2 p.m. at the Chapel, prior to the service.
