PeachtreeCity

It’s not something we normally think about in January, but if you are out enjoying Peachtree City’s paths and parks, keep a summer eye out for snakes.

Public Works crews report seeing snake activity out and about. According to Southeaster Reptile Rescue, snakes do not hibernate – they bromate, which means they can become active on mild winter days.

It is also important to remember that killing non-venomous snakes in Georgia is illegal. They help to keep down the population of rodents and of venomous snakes in our natural areas.

Just step carefully and, if you see a snake, leave it alone. Cooler temperatures should return this weekend.
