The annual Peachtree City event helps fund projects centered on safety, health, education, and opportunity.

Shepherds of the Meek (SOTM) will host its annual Denim & Diamonds Gala on Friday, November 6, 2026, in Peachtree City. The evening will bring together supporters, local businesses, and friends of the organization to learn more about its work and help fund future projects in Colombia and Guatemala.

SOTM began in Colombia in 2012, when a community of Sisters in Bogotá asked for help with a washing machine and a small bathroom remodel. Led by founding priest Father Dairo Rico, those first projects grew into a broader mission serving children through religious communities across the country.

Today, SOTM supports projects in Bogotá, Montería, Medellín, Cali, and Barranquilla. Its work has included beds, educational resources, playgrounds, school supplies, kitchen and building improvements, and safe spaces for children to learn and play.

In Montería, recent projects have improved bathrooms, laundry facilities, storage, and a playground, along with a study room equipped with computers and a printer. SOTM also provided a van to give children and caregivers safer, more reliable transportation.

The organization later expanded its work to Guatemala.

In San Juan Sacatepéquez, Sister Ruth cares for children in vulnerable circumstances. Some are orphans, while others have parents who need a safe place for their children during the day while they work.

When SOTM first became involved, the children were sleeping on cardboard mats on the floor. With donor support, those mats were replaced with real beds, giving them a safer and more comfortable place to sleep. SOTM continues to work with Sister Ruth on improvements that support the children’s daily care, learning, and well-being.

Although each community has different needs, SOTM’s approach is consistent: listen to the Sisters who serve there and respond to what they see firsthand. The organization’s work is guided by four pillars: Safety, Health, Education, and Opportunities.

Denim & Diamonds helps make that work possible. Guests will enjoy dinner, entertainment, and connection, along with opportunities to support SOTM through a silent auction and other fundraising activities.
