Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will spend Oct. 22-24 tackling 19 projects during the second annual Servant Weekend. Projects range from golf cart path and roadway clean-up, to clearing two lots at Christian City, to painting fingernails and singing for residents at a local retirement facility.
The public is invited to participate in seven events at the church. One requires an appointment (call 770-487-8717): free glaucoma testing offered by “god’s eyes” and PTC Eye Clinic, Oct. 22, 2:30-5:30 p.m.
The remaining public events invite all to come any time during announced hours:
• Bake sale (benefits DFCS summer lunch program) – Oct. 22, 2:30-7:30 p.m. and Oct. 23, 9 a.m. -noon;
• Red Cross blood drive – Oct. 22, 2:30-7:30 p.m.;
• Job Search-Government Jobs workshop – Oct. 23, 9-10 a.m.;
• Plant exchange (donations support landscaping) – Oct. 23, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.;
• Free document shredding offered by Thrivent for Lutherans – Oct. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; and
• Give-and-take free exchange market (clothing, furniture, household items and electronics) – Oct. 23, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Because Saturday is a day of serving, the evening worship service is cancelled.
The weekend concludes with a celebration service Sunday at 11 a.m.
