Backstreet Community Arts will celebrate its grand opening with an open house scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 22, 2-4 p.m. at 19-B First Avenue in Newnan behind Bridging the Gap.

The organization is a new nonprofit in Newnan that brings a free open art studio “to anyone who will benefit from the healing powers of art and community whether they can afford it or not,” according to a statement. “Backstreet believes that art saves lives and that art should be for everyone.”

Attendees will be able to meet artists, learn about the free open studio and sign up for classes and workshops.
