Margaret Whitehead Marler, 80, of Fayetteville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 after a long battle with diabetes.

Margaret was born November 30, 1936 to Pete and Nettie Whitehead of Atlanta.  She married the love of her life, Harvey Marler who was lost to cancer in 1976, and never remarried.

Margaret was a graduate of Sylvan Hills High School class of 1955 and a faithful member of Peachtree United Methodist Church. Before having children Margaret worked for Delta airlines scheduling flights.  Upon her youngest leaving home she followed one of her passions in life and became a travel agent.  She enjoyed seeing different parts of the world and experiencing their culture.  While married to Harvey she found a second love in her life – square dancing.  She continued to dance long after Harvey’s passing and made friends all over the country.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Whitehead; sons, David Marler and his wife Sherrie, Michael Marler and his wife Liza; daughters, Vickie Marler,  Penny Strength and her husband William; grandchildren, Patrick Hunt and his wife Michelle, Carson Hunt and his wife Allison, West Marler, Taylor Marler and her great grandchildren, Corey, Lexie, Conner and Sawyer.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City, with Reverend Sean Robinson officiating.  Burial followed the service at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga.  The family received friends from 11 – 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to her favorite charities, American Diabetes Foundation, https://donations.diabetes.org/site/donation, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/give.html.
