Fayetteville continued its aggressive pursuit of luring businesses downtown Thursday night by guaranteeing to pay 92.5 The Bear radio station $40,000 for radio advertising over the next four years.
The Bear’s studio used to be located in downtown Senoia, but now is in a shopping center in the east Coweta town. Fayetteville is using funds gathered by the city’s hotel-motel tax to grease the wheels to have a radio station on the city’s square. Economic Development Director Brian Wismer asked the city to approve the expenditure, so the city could finalize an agreement with the radio station to locate it near Oz Pizza. In recent years, the city has used incentives to attract businesses such as Twisted Taco and Oz Pizza to help revitalize the city’s center.
On Thursday night, the city also gave a thumbs up to the tasting license that allows Gremlin Growlers to relocate from Peachtree City to downtown Fayetteville.
In other news, the city awarded a bid to Global Web Advisors for $29,997 to help rebrand the city.
“Initiating and completing this project will accomplish two of the recommended action items within the City’s Economic Development Strategy adopted by City Council earlier this year,” staff wrote.
The funds will be used to re-work the city’s website and further the efforts of creating a uniform brand for the city.
