The Rotary Club of Senoia will hear a presentation by Cynthia Bennett about Meals On Wheels of Coweta at its meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Senoia Coffee and Cafe, 1 Main Street.

The Rotary Club of Senoia will be partnering this year with Meals on Wheels of Coweta to expand its program to 10 clients in the Senoia area and to provide volunteers for delivery. We will be presenting over $2,250 worth of food items to them during this meeting for the expansion of the Senoia program.

Growing as a community service since 1971, Meals on Wheels of Coweta, Inc., was established in 1981 and designated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1994. MOWOC is a member of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Meals on Wheels Associations of America and Georgia, and is designated as the official Meals on Wheels Chapter in Coweta County. MOWOC operates under the direction of a fourteen-member volunteer board of directors and is staffed by four part-time employees and over 120 volunteers.

MOWOC offers four services – home delivered meals, handyman services, pet care assistance, and friendly visitor services – at no cost to clients. Home delivered meals, home repairs, and regular companionship help clients live in their own homes, improve their nutritional health status, and enhance their quality of life.

More than 18,000 meals are served to MOWOC clients annually. Approximately 125 volunteers are involved in meal delivery, handyman repairs, food preparation, pet care assistance, and friendly visitors. The majority of MOWOC clients live alone with little or no help. The meal the client receives may be the only meal they eat that day.
