The Heritage Community Foundation presented a grant May 10 to Helping In His Name Ministries executive director Kaye Sheets and board member Sandy Craig.
The $3,000 grant will be used to purchase three new desktop computers.
“Our current system is very slow and crashes often,” said Craig. “It is only a matter of time before we cannot reboot and access our data.”
The new computers will help them better serve their almost 20,000 clients.
Helping in His Name Ministries (aka The Food Pantry) is an ecumenical nonprofit organization that provides temporary emergency help to the hungry and needy people of Henry County. The mission of Helping In His Name Ministries, Inc. is to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing free food to the unemployed, the underemployed, the elderly, and single parents. No one with a legitimate need is refused help. This mission is carried out by a volunteer workforce and a small staff using donated food and money. Helping in His Name Ministries’ goal is usually short term, “stop-gap help” as long term relief is usually outside the scope of their operations.
Since its inception in 1990, The Food Pantry has grown significantly as it currently feeds more than 3,100 people a month.
