Father Michael McWhorter, 52, of Fayetteville

Father Michael McWhorter, 52, of Fayetteville, passed away April 29, 2016.

Father McWhorter was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School, Class of 1981. He went on to graduate from Georgia State University and completed seminary at St. Meinrad School of Theology. Ordained to the priesthood in 1992, Father McWhorter served as a priest at St. John Neumann in Lilburn and Holy Trinity in Peachtree City. He was a pastor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Milledgeville and was currently serving as pastor at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

He is survived by his parents, Billy and Dorothy McWhorter; brother, Shawn and his wife, Amanda McWhorter; nephews, Tyler and Wesley McWhorter and niece Ashley McWhorter.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville. Burial will take place at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 5 – 9 p.m., at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
