Only 16 high school percussionists from around the world are accepted each year to the Juilliard School Summer Percussion Seminar, and McIntosh High student Michael Dehan is one of them.

Dehan will attend the esteemed Juilliard School in New York City in July where he will take part in an intensive two-week seminar designed specifically for advanced high school percussionists.

While there he will pursue hands-on study of all the major percussion instruments: two and four-mallet keyboard, snare drum, timpani, and orchestral accessories. In addition, students are introduced to world hand drums, percussion chamber music, and both multi and solo-percussion repertoire.

Seminar participants also experience a challenging range of master classes, clinics, lectures, rehearsals, and performances, all of which are focused on preparing them for success in conservatory and college auditions.
