On Thursday, November 6th Marilyn J. Noffsinger passed away suddenly at her home at Azalea Estates, Fayetteville.
She was born on October 9, 1923 in Rockford, Ill. After graduating from high school, she met William Gavin (Bill) Noffsinger, who was in the Army and stationed near Rockford. They married on September 29, 1945, and both lived long enough to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary. Bill died in February, 2008.
She was predeceased by one grand-daughter (Trina) and is survived by sons Jim and his wife, Rosa, of Fayetteville, and John and his wife, Mary, of Waynesboro, Va. She is also survived by three grandchildren – Joey and Willie Noffsinger, and Mia Franz, as well as by two great-children, Owen and Gareth Franz.
While her sons were young, Marilyn worked as a homemaker but later worked as a secretary in varying capacities – at her church, at the University of Maryland, and most extensively at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. After she and Bill retired, they moved from Silver Spring, Md. to Lakeland, Fla. and were able to indulge their love of travel by touring around the United States and Canada. They were also able to visit many places in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, and they loved taking Caribbean cruises.
Marilyn and Bill moved to Fayetteville in 1999. They were members of the National Heights Baptist Church. The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10th, and arrangements were handled by Mowell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
