Advance voting underway in PTC, Fayetteville and Tyrone

Advanced voting leading up to the Nov. 3 election is on for the municipal races in Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Tyrone.

Advanced voting will take place through Oct. 30 at the Fayette County Elections Office, at the Peachtree City Library and Tyrone Town Hall. Voting at all locations will be from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Fayette County Elections Office is located at 140 Stonewall Ave. in Fayetteville. The Peachtree City Library is located at 201 Willowbend Road in Peachtree City and the Tyrone Town Hall is located at 881 Senoia Rd. in Tyrone.

Election supervisor Tom Sawyer reminded residents that only voters in the cities of Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Tyrone will be eligible to vote in the election in their respective cities.

The race for mayor in Fayetteville includes incumbent Greg Clifton versus Councilman Ed Johnson.

The Post 2 council race features Councilman Mickey Edwards opposed by retired businesswoman Kathleen Brewer.

The Post 1 seat currently held by Johnson saw only one qualifier in retiree Harlan F. Shirley. Mimi Oddo, wife of Councilman Paul Oddo, announced herself as a write-in candidate.

The Post 1 seat in Peachtree City is a contested race between Planning Commissioner Phil Prebor and homemaker Shayne Robinson. Councilman Eric Imker announced previously that he would not seek re-election to the Post 1 seat.

Peachtree City had incumbent Mike King qualifying for the Post 2 seat on the City Council with no opposition.

Tyrone has two contested races.

Mayor Eric Dial is opposed by consultant Derrick Jackson while the Post 2 council race features incumbent Ryan Housley who is being challenged by Tyrone Planning Commissioner Wil James.

Post 1 incumbent Linda Howard is unopposed.
