Roberta Joyce Di Petta, passed away July 19, 2015. Born June 19, 1950 in Newport, Va. to Mr. Melvin Eugene & Aubrey Ruth Brewer Surrency, Roberta grew up in Miami, Fla. She graduated in 1968 from Palmetto High School. She received associate’s degrees in Medical Sciences and Dental Hygiene from Miami Dade College. She moved to Fayetteville, Ga. in 1984, where she received a real estate license and was a volunteer CASA worker, advocating for abused/neglected children.

Roberta was harmonious, well-versed when it came to strumming a guitar, playing the penny whistle, harmonica and a master of her voice. When she heard birds singing, she always sang back. She enjoyed discovery in all essence of the word, fascinated with foreign cultures, ancient history, creative arts, the science behind existence, Mother Nature and more.

She performed selfless kindness without expectations. She was known to approach a stranger in tears, listening to them with all her heart. She would fill her car with fresh, hot food and hunt down homeless people, ready for a good meal. She always pulled over to rescue a turtle, chauffeuring it back to safety. She was rich in honesty, hospitality, in ways that mere words cannot properly embody. When she paid a compliment, it was never generic, but truly from the bottom of her golden heart. She was the image of sharing, the image of caring. She would never hesitate to fight the good fight, to protect those who did not have protectors. She was light.
