June 14 – Another busy week ahead, with a Planning Commission meeting tonight, Council Budget workshop tomorrow night, and the regular Council meeting Thursday.

Planning Commission meeting tonight
The Peachtree City Planning Commission meets tonight, June 14, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. The agenda includes a continuation of the Public Hearing for NorSouth’s proposed rezoning of a 5.62-acre tract of land on Newgate Road within Kedron Village from LUR-13 Limited Use Residential to GR General Residential in order to develop senior apartments. The Commission will also consider the conceptual site plan for a Walgreen’s at Hwy 54 and Peachtree Parkway (Ruby Tuesday tract). Budget Workshop Tuesday, June 15
The Mayor and Council will hold another workshop on the FY 2011 Budget on Tuesday, June 15, 6:30 p.m., at City Hall. The public is welcome.

City Council meets Thursday – Rezoning, Lake Peachtree, & Library Commission
The City Council will hold their regular meeting this Thursday, June 17, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall. The agenda includes the NorSouth rezoning request for senior apartments (LUR-13 to GR), the Tourism Association lease agreement, Lake Peachtree usage/rental fees, and the possibility of decommissioning the Library Commission. 2010 Street & Path Resurfacing

Code Enforcement – Now at PD
Effective today, the Peachtree City Code Enforcement Department has moved to the Police Department at 350 Highway 74 South. The Housing Code Official remains in the Community Development Offices at 153 Willowbend Road (downstairs from City Hall). Residents reporting problems may continue to do so through the online services at www.peachtree-city.org, or through the complaint line at 770-631-2588 ext. 220.

Library Volunteer Opportunities this Summer!
The Peachtree City Library has openings for volunteers, age 14 through adult, year-round – especially during the summer months. All new volunteers receive a one-hour orientation tour of the library followed by one-to-two hours of task-specific training. You may work at a time of your own choosing during hours the library is open. Students who are looking for credits for service clubs, etc., may find the library to be just the place for this. If you are interested, please drop by the library and fill out an application. You will then be contacted to schedule your orientation.

From June 1 – August 8, the Peachtree City Library will be open for its summer hours schedule:
Summer Hours
Monday – Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
+School year hours resume on August 9.

Soccer Fields Closed starting June 11
The Soccer Association is funding repairs to the fields at the South 74 Baseball Soccer Complex (BSC) and at Glenloch. The BSC fields will be closed from June 11 to August 1, and the Glenloch fields will be closed from June 11 to August 23.
