This weekend’s GHSA girls state track meet produced several individual champions from local schools and one team title.

The Lady Bobcats from Our Lady of Mercy took first place overall in the A Private classification. Bolstering their team score were Leah Banks (first in the 400-meter dash and long jump); Deja Barthell (first in the 100-meter dash); and the 4×100-meter relay team that came in first.

Landmark’s girls had no individual event winners but finished fourth as a team.

In AAAA, Fayette County’s Chinyere Njoku won the 100-meter hurdles and Asia Green was first in high jump, helping the Lady Tigers finish fifth as a team.

Whitewater’s Noelle Park won her third consecutive state championship in the shot put, setting a state record in the process. Her previous two titles came in AAAAA.

This year in AAAAA, Alexis Farley of Starr’s Mill won the long jump and the Lady Panthers finished sixth.
