Small acts of generosity add up together to accomplish great things, so discovered the members of First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. They recently were able to package more than 15,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now, an organization committed to ending hunger across the globe.
During the recent 40 days of Lent, members were encouraged by their pastor, the Rev. Morgan Hay, to participate in “Do Lent Generously.” Each family was given a calendar and invited to take part in 40 simple acts of generosity, which challenged them to think about the generous love of Jesus. Enough money was raised from these simple acts to package more than 15,000 meals designed to provide the greatest nutritional value in the most efficient packaging.
Stop Hunger Now meals consist of rice, soy protein, dried vegetables, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals which are distributed through developmental programs to reverse the effects of malnutrition on children and adults.
Stop Hunger Now also provides meals in response to crisis relief.
More than 100 volunteers from First Presbyterian packed the meals, with support from the Stop Hunger Now team.
This is the second year that First Presbyterian has worked with Stop Hunger Now to package meals. So far, more than 25,000 meals have been donated by First Presbyterian in the effort to stop hunger.
