The Southern Ground Amphitheater recently announced an exciting lineup for the 2015 Summer Concert Series.
The 2015 season continues the amphitheater’s long-standing tradition of bringing great entertainers at an affordable price at one of the most comfortable outdoor venues in the region.
Kicking off the season on Saturday, June 6, is the original voice of Three Dog Night, Chuck Negron. In the late 1960’s/early 1970’s, Negron led Three Dog Night during the band’s most prolific period,
creating rock and pop anthems still revered today. Expect Negron to perform the full “Three Dog” catalog including “Joy to the World, One” (is the loneliest number), and “Mama Told Me Not to Come.”
On June 27, Southern Ground welcomes Southern-rockers, 38 Special. These wild-eyed southern boys were mainstays on rock and pop radio in the 1980’s. Expect a raucous evening when they break out their monster hits including “Hold on Loosely, So Caught Up in You,” and “Rockin’ into the Night.”
On July 11, Southern Ground hosts an evening of R&B vintage sound with The Four Tops. As one of the pioneers of the original Motown sound, the legendary group helped define the soundtrack of a generation. Backed by a 12-piece band, the evening will come alive to such mega-classics as “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, Baby I Need Your Loving,” and “Reach Out, I’ll Be There.”
On July 25, Southern Ground bridges the old and new with the legendary Blood, Sweat & Tears, featuring Bo Bice. This American jazz-rock band paved the way for the heavy, horn-driven sound of the late 60’s. Bice recently joined the band as lead singer, and will perform all the classics with their original fervor.
Expect to hear “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy, And When I Die,” and the masterpiece, “Spinning Wheel.”
Finishing out the series with a bang on Aug. 8 is Wynonna & the Big Noise. Clearly one of bestselling female country artists of the last 20 years, Wynonna will be with her band in support of a brand new album this summer; bringing a ton of old classics as well as new hits to the stage. Expect a high-energy performance from beginning to end.
Series tickets are now on sale via the SouthernGroundAmp.com website, and start at $99(+ tax) for general admission lawn seats and $145(+ tax) for reserved seats and include all five shows. Individual show tickets will go on sale March 30.
