The Armed Forces Mission in Tyrone recently received a $10,000 grant from the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation.

Chaplain Kenneth Koon, executive director of the Armed Forces Mission, was one of 54 recipients from among 89 applicants chosen to receive financial assistance from the foundation operated by the Georgia Baptist Convention. The Foundation distributed $3,256,924 million in an awards ceremony at the Georgia Baptist Missions and Ministry Center in Duluth.

The grant will be used to provide counseling services at the mission, whose main focus is the prevention of suicide. The non-profit entity’s website is www.iwillintervene.com.
