A Peachtree City man was charged with aggravated assault after a Feb. 6 road rage incident where he tailgated a driver on Ga. Highway 54 then pointed a weapon at the other vehicle as he passed it.
Terrence O. Manning, 40, of Azalea Drive, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, aggressive driving and possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime, according to Fayette County Jail records.
Sheriff Barry Babb said the driver and a passenger were traveling west on Hwy. 54 near Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville when Manning in a Ford SUV came up behind and began tailgating. The driver said the Ford came up very fast on his bumper, causing him to believe that it would cause him to crash or run off the road, according to Babb.
Manning then pulled into the left lane and pulled along side the man. It was at that point when Manning pointed a firearm at the other driver, who then braked and called 911, Babb said. The man’s passenger also recorded the incident with a cell phone, said Babb.
Sheriff’s deputies took the man’s statement and checked the video, Babb said.
Manning was at home in Peachtree City by that time. Peachtree City officers and deputies interviewed Manning and arrested him based on statements and video evidence, Babb said.
