After a national jazz competition, the McIntosh High School Chiefettes Dance Team was named one of the top 12 teams in the United States.
The team recently competed in the UDA National Dance Team Championship in Orlando where it competed in the Small Varsity Pom and Small Varsity Jazz division.
The Chiefettes had an exciting weekend as they advanced out of the preliminaries and into the semi-finals in pom, but were just short of making the finals cut. The Chiefettes advanced out of prelimaries into the semi final round of jazz, though, and from the semi-finals, advanced to finals.
Out of the 70 teams that competed in Small Varsity Jazz, only 17 teams advanced to finals, and McIntosh placed 12th in the nation.
This marks the first time the Chiefettes have made it to the finals of Small Varsity Jazz.
