My name is Archie Chaudhury and I am 12 years old. I live in Atlanta, U.S., and currently studying in Grade 7 at Booth Middle School. I have written an article about my thoughts on the holiday season and request you to consider and publish in any corner of your newspaper. I want to share my thoughts with all kids of Peachtree City.

Have you ever thought about the holiday season? I sure have. The holiday season is about making memories, sharing, and pure happiness. I always long for this soothing and wonderful time of year. People are going on vacations, spending time with their family, and sharing special presents that come from the heart.

The first holiday season I can remember was six years ago. I was 6 years old, and I was living in snowy Spokane, Washington. Imagine that perfect, fluffy snow falling on you. Anyways, it was my first holiday season in America. Happily, I had looked at the magnificent trees and smiled. Then, on Christmas, I got a red, self-propelled, 20-mph, toy helicopter.

There are many stories and opinions about the beginning of Christmas. According to Wikipedia.com, Christmas began [in America] on Dec. 25, 1687, after The Reverend of Boston declared that Jesus Christ was born on this day.

I believe that one of the most important aspects of the holiday season is making memories that you can look down upon later and just smile. One of the best ways to preserve memories is by taking a photo. Click! Click! Click!

This is how many of my family’s best bonds were forged. It is great fun too. Imagine that feeling, taking a picture of loved ones celebrating or knowing that the special time you’re enjoying is now a memory you can visit later. For me, it is one of the most important parts of the holiday season. Christmas is a time to have special moments with your family and loved ones. The camera makes it possible to capture those unforgettable moments.

It is no wonder the holiday season is known as the season of giving. Do you remember the first present you ever got? In fact, I think it is more about what you give other people rather than what you receive. Imagine the smile on your loved one’s face when you give them a special gift. Happily, they’ll open the gift and exclaim, “Really! You shouldn’t have!” Not only does gift-giving make others happy, deep inside, it makes the giver swell with joy to know they’ve have made someone’s day.

Christmas is a great time because everyone is loving and caring towards others. There have been many stories about Christmas miracles and most them involve one’s unselfish acts that help others. This is an amazing thing and I hope everyone helps a less fortunate person during the holidays. That is the most important thing during the holidays for me. Not any picture, gift, or vacation can top the amount of joy that comes from helping another person.

As you can see, the holiday season is one of the most wonderful times of the year. I, for one, can’t wait till Christmas gets here, and I bet you can say that as well. The points I outlined in the above paragraphs have long been traditions. I hope this article has put you in the holiday spirit!

Thank you and I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
