Liberty Tech Charter School, the proposed charter school in Fayette County, was awarded a grant from Panasonic Corporation in Peachtree City, contributing towards its computer program.
Liberty Tech’s virtue-based educational model infuses STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a Classical education in a relevant, hands-on manner for students in grades K-12.
According to the Georgia Department of Labor website, STEM jobs are growing at a rate of 17 percent faster than all other job categories.
“In order for our children to be prepared for the future, they not only need to be able to memorize equations for a test, they need to be able to apply them in real life situations.
That is what makes learning engaging and exciting: to figure out why we really need to learn it in the first place,” explained Christi McCully, governing board president of Liberty Tech. “More and more students are interested in STEM, but upon entering college find themselves woefully unprepared.
Liberty Tech wants to change that and the grant from Panasonic will help make our vision happen. We are thrilled with the vote of confidence this world-wide company has given our efforts to help prepare students for success on a nation-wide playing field.”
