A course on Public Safety and the Law, part of a Career/Tech pathway, is being offered at Whitewater High for the first time this year.

Fayette County State Court Judge Jason B. Thompson addressed the class shortly after the start of the school year. He spoke about the training and education needed to become a judge, as well as the different types of courts and their functions in Fayette County.

Judge Thompson applauded the idea of having a high school course on Public Safety and the Law, and offered his help where needed.

“I had a great time speaking to the Public Safety class. It was my first time speaking to a class designed for that specific purpose. What a great idea! I’ll be happy to visit Whitewater anytime to help the students anyway that I can,” he said.
