LANDMARK

BASEBALL: Defeated Our Lady of Mercy twice this week, 13-3 and 19-0.

GOLF: The boys and girls swept the Class A Private Area 3 Championships this week. The boys shot a 319 and were led by freshman Jake Milanowski of Peachtree City, the Low Medalist winner with a 75. The girls shot a 181 and were led by junior Jordan Daniel of Newnan, also the low medalist with a 74. Both teams automatically qualify for state which will be May 19 in Augusta.

SOCCER: Beat Strong Rock 2-1 and downed Whitefield Academy 4-2 to claim the #2 seed in area 1. The War Eagles will host Calvary Day in a first-round state playoff match May 1.

McINTOSH

LACROSSE: Defeated area opponent Grady 18-1 (boys) Tuesday. The defense was led by Jason Floyd’s 4 saves in the goal. The offense was paced by Matt Marhefka’s 4 goals and an assist, Barrett Bornhofen’s 3 goals and 2 assists, while Graham Davis, Peter Costello, James Outlaw and Tanner Karneboge chipped in two goals each.

SOCCER: Beat Starr’s Mill 3-1 with goals by Carson Brooks, Didrik Cooper-Seip and Ian Berryman.

OUR LADY OF MERCY

BASEBALL: Austin Loper pitched 4 strong innings and went 3-for-3 including a double in a 6-2 win over Temple Monday afternoon. Freshman pitcher Jordan Rachmann pitched 3 shutout innings to get the save. Christian White led off the top of the fourth with a single, and Keegan Jordan laid down a sacrifice bunt to move White to second. Then Andrew Calderara battled from down deep in the count to hit a sharp ground ball out, first base to pitcher covering, allowing a hustling White to score all the way from second for a 5-0 lead. Cameron Merrell was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and Kevin Walker was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

STARR’S MILL

SOCCER: Beat McIntosh 2-0 (girls) to claim the top seed in Region 4-AAAAA for the state playoffs. After a scoreless first half, Rachel Catlett found the net in the 67th minute, and Lauren Yoss found Molly Moroney for the final goal with one minute to play. It was the Lady Panthers’ first win over the Lady Chiefs since 2010. They will host a first-round state playoff match April 30, while the boys host Warner Robins April 29.

WHITEWATER

SOCCER: Beat Carrollton 4-0 (girls) on goals by Claire Messina, Bella Millians, Emily Peterson and Madison Minter (her first as a varsity player). Assists by Ally Smithwick and Abby Smithwick. Messina had five saves in goal. The Lady Wildcats ended their season with a 10-6-1 record.

TRACK: In the Region 4-AAAAA meet last week, Noelle Parker was first in the shot put and second in the discus. Jonathan Womack finished second in the 400 meters and Madison Mueller came in second in the 300 hurdles while setting a new school record in the 100 meters. Don Harp’s third-place finish in the 3200 meters was also a new school record. Parker Nail was fourth in the 3200 meters. All of these athletes will advance to sectionals.
