Romeo: Loyal, Loving, and Ready to Steal Your Heart

They say love finds you when you least expect it and Romeo is proof. This 1.5- to 2-year-old lab mix is 75 pounds of loyalty, affection, and full-body hugs. Once he knows you, he doesn’t just like you—he loves you, heart and soul.

Romeo came to the shelter under heartbreaking circumstances—he was shot in the foot, with signs suggesting it may have been at close range. Understandably, he can be cautious when first meeting new people. But give him a treat or let him meet you through a trusted friend, and Romeo transforms into a happy-to-know you best friend. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll be there for life.

Despite his past, Romeo’s heart remains open. His physical wounds have healed and he’s ready for his new forever family. He’s incredibly obedient, quickly tunes in for direction, and responds beautifully to commands. Volunteers rave about him, saying they’d trust him pretty quickly not only with their own dogs, but likely with their kids, too. He’s that kind of dog—the one who earns your trust and keeps it. 

Romeo is still young and full of life, and what he wants most is a place where he can love and be loved in return. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a whole lot of heart, Romeo may be the perfect match.

He’s available for adoption at Fayette County Animal Shelter, located at 1131 Highway 74 South in Peachtree City. The shelter is open seven days a week—Monday through Friday from 11–5, and weekends from 12–5. Come meet Romeo and see just how healing love can be.
