Tornado Confirmed in Coweta County Following Monday’s Storms

One tornado was confirmed in the wake of Monday’s severe storms across north Georgia, according to meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, as reported by 11Alive News.

The EF-0 tornado touched down in Coweta County around 12:32 p.m. near Lower Fayetteville Road, just east of Interstate 85 in Newnan. With maximum winds reaching 75 mph, the tornado was on the ground for nearly five miles, causing damage along its path.

Fallen trees and large branches were reported on Shenandoah Boulevard, Sullivan Road, and Lora Smith Road. The storm reached peak intensity near the Legacy Estates Subdivision before lifting at 12:39 p.m. near the Manchester Subdivision.

Damage assessments continued Tuesday in nearby areas, including Fayetteville.
