Should your mom (or wife or friend) be named Mother of the Year?

Let us know! The deadline for Fayette County’s annual Mother of the Year Contest, coordinated by The Citizen and Fayette Woman magazine, is Tuesday, April 27.

Valuable prize packages this year are provided by sponsors including A Southern Accent, A’meritage at Dogwood, Atlanta Market Furniture & Accessories, Campanile’s Home Furnishings, Cosmedical Spa & Salon, City Cafe, Curves of Peachtree City, Ici Paris, Merle Norman (Kedron / PTC), Mucklow’s Fine Jewelry, Rona’s Flowers and Trilogy Health and Wellness Center.

If you know someone who should be named “Mother of the Year” tell us why in an essay of 500 words or less. Include:

    • Your name and contact information;
    • Your mother’s name, age, address and contact information (winning moms must be residents of Fayette County);
    • A photo of the mother nominated; and
    • Why this person should be recognized as a “Mother of the Year.”

Email your nomination to bestmoms@fayettewoman.com.

Winners will be selected from three age categories.

“The most important thing to know about this contest,” Fayette Woman publisher Joyce Beverly said, “is that if you don’t enter, you can’t win. Three moms are going to have a very nice Mothers’ Day. Why not yours?”

Beverly also noted that sometimes nominations for younger moms are lacking.

“There aren’t a lot of kindergartners or toddlers who write to us,” she said, “but there are lot of under 40 moms who deserve to have their stories told. Please think of your friends, wives and daughters in this age category too and let us know about them.”
