Henry Christopher “Turtle” Greer, age 68, of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on April 4, 2014 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He was visiting his favorite country in Europe when he died of natural causes.
“Turtle” was born in Thomaston, Ga. and graduated from Robert E. Lee Institute (High School) in 1963. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968-1974. He worked as a Ramp Service Agent/Customer Service Agent with Delta Air Lines retiring in January 2002 with 35 years of service. During his employment with Delta, “Turtle” was the president of the Delta Ski Club from 1981-1983; president of the North American Airlines Ski Federation from 1992-1994 and an official airport greeter for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. After retirement from Delta, he worked as a shipping and receiving clerk for Menlo Park Inc. in Peachtree City from 2005-2008.
He was preceded in death by his parent’s Henry and Rena Savannah (Stumph) Greer and brother Philip.
No funeral is planned but a private burial will in Upson Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Thomaston next to his parents. There will be a Celebration of Life April 25 at the Elks Lodge, 7090 Oakley Industrial Blvd, Union City, Ga. from 2 – 5 p.m.
