0Edythe Hettema Strayer, age 96, passed away on Feb. 2, 2014, in Fayetteville, Ga.
Born to Cornelius and Addie Hettema in Midland Park, N.J., she resided in N.J. and Kan. prior to moving to Atlanta in 1951.
Surviving is daughter Donna G. Johnson (Gil), two sons Todd B. Strayer (Cheryl) and Phillip N. Strayer (Barbara), six grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Her oldest daughter, Penny Ann Strayer Vincent, preceded Edythe in death in 1984.
Edythe, lovingly known as “DeeDee,” spent most of her career as an executive secretary, and retired form IJ Kaplan & Associates.
Edythe enjoyed participating in the Senior program at her church and was proud of her family and her Dutch heritage. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
